1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of Statement Compass (“we”, “us”), an independent developer. By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Statement Compass converts bank and card statements you supply into categorized transactions, budgets, forecasts, and related views, for your personal, non-commercial use. Statement PDFs are parsed in your browser; only the content you approve is processed on our servers, as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
  • Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

4. Your content

  • Only upload statements and enter records that are yours, or that you are clearly authorized to manage.
  • Your financial data remains yours. We claim no ownership over it, and we use it only to provide the Service.
  • Redaction of sensitive information before processing is your choice and your responsibility, as the Privacy Policy explains.

5. AI output — accuracy is not guaranteed

The Service uses an AI model to read your statements and propose transactions, categories, and other details. AI output can be wrong: amounts, dates, categories, and balances may be misread or misattributed. The Service is built so that nothing enters your records until you have reviewed and committed it, and you agree that reviewing that output is your responsibility.

Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Forecasts, budgets, and projections are estimates derived from your own data and assumptions. For decisions that matter, consult the underlying statements and a qualified professional.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload documents you have no right to process, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Circumvent plan limits, rate limits, or technical restrictions — including by merging multiple statements into one file, padding uploads, or automating requests.
  • Probe, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ data.
  • Resell or provide the Service to third parties.

7. Plans and limits

The Service offers plans with different limits (such as uploads per month and pages per upload). Current limits are shown in the app. We may change plans and limits over time; if a change materially reduces what your plan includes, we will notify you in the app. Paid upgrades are not currently available for purchase.

8. Intellectual property

The Service — its software, design, and content other than your data — belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service.

9. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service at any time, clear your data from Settings, and request account deletion via the contact page.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or create risk for us or other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.
  • We may discontinue the Service; if we do, we will give you reasonable notice to export your data.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, or data, arising from your use of the Service — including decisions made in reliance on AI output. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and USD 50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service, including uploading documents you had no right to process.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your home country applies and cannot be waived. Before bringing any formal claim, you agree to first raise the issue with us through the contact page and give us 30 days to resolve it.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the date above will reflect the latest revision. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
